Oskaloosa, Iowa – The grounds around the new Environmental Learning Center in Caldwell Park will host an opening game of disc golf this weekend.

TJ Brom and the others from the Oskaloosa Disc Golf Group were busy finishing up a new 18-hole course in Caldwell Park.

Brom told Oskaloosa News that the course came after a meeting between him and Mahaska County’s Conservation Director Dave Sedivec. After that, it was a matter of time and the right elements, particularly funding, should come together to make this conversation a reality.

Brom describes the Oskaloosa Disc Golf Club as passionate about the sport. “We want all families, children, everyone to be involved.”

The new square marks third place in the Oskaloosa area. The original 18-hole course in Edmundson Park and the 18-hole course now in Caldwell Park. There is also a 9-hole course near University Park. Everyone offers something different for players.
