CITY OF ALBERT LEA
NOTICE OF THE Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Act of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Section 4 (F) DEFINITIVE De minimis FINDING
ALBERT LEA CITY AIRPORT
Section 4 (F) DEFINITELY DE-MINISIS FIND FOR SUGGESTED AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS
It is hereby announced that on December 4, 2021, the DOT Act Section 4 (f) Final de minimis Finding was approved by the FAA for the proposed improvements to Albert Lea Municipal Airport discussed below. The initial announcement of the draft version of this report was made available for review on October 16, 2021, followed by a 30-day comment period. This comment period has expired and no comments have been received.
This result indicates that the proposed aerodrome improvements at Albert Lea Municipal Airport would not have an adverse effect on the Tall Grass Disc Golf Course. The proposed project includes removing trees, relocating the airport perimeter fence 216 feet west into the Tall Grass Disk Golf Course, and reconfiguring the Tall Grass Disk Golf Course to maintain the current number of holes within the new boundary. This land, currently owned by the city, would be preserved as city land but designated as airport property.
Section 4 (f) of the DOT Act applies when a transport project, such as airport improvements, may have an impact on a public park. The final de minimis detection shows that there would be no adverse impact on the park and the number of holes will remain the same after part of the course has been reconfigured. The City of Albert Lea owns the Tall Grass Disk Golf Course Park and has agreed to this final result after working with park users and representatives.
The results of the analysis are published in Section 4 (f) Final de minimis Finding document, which can be downloaded from https://cityofalbertlea.org or viewed in print at Albert Lea’s Town Hall, Engineering Department.
