Salas praises $ 22 million for parking funding |  Local news

Congregation member Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) welcomed the allocation of over $ 22 million in direct investment to renovate, expand and improve local parks in Arvin, Shafter, Lamont, Wasco and Hanford.

Congregation member Salas helped pass this important grant funding in the 2021-2022 state budget, in addition to Proposition 68 in 2018, which raised $ 395 million for parks across California.

“I’m excited to see the $ 22 million direct investment going into our community parks, which will create more open space and safer opportunities for our local families,” said Salas. “These improvements will have long-term positive effects on our community by improving and expanding our local parks and making our open spaces more enjoyable and accessible to families throughout the Central Valley.”

As part of California’s Statewide Park Program, the following cities will experience exciting new projects:

City of Arvin Kovacevich Park Field of Dreams ($ 1,956,575)

Renovation of Kovacevich Park in the city of Arvin. Construction of a new playground with a cast rubber surface with shadows and a statue. Renovation of an existing basketball court, two baseball fields, walking paths, each with their own lighting, two toilets, picnic areas and a parking lot.

City of Shafter North Shafter Community Park Development ($ 3,803,030) Creation of the new North Shafter Community Park in Shafter City. Construction of a new skate park, spray park, playground with obstacle course, practice stations, outdoor stage / pavilion, multi-purpose area, five picnic areas with shade, walking paths, parking lot, toilet, all with their own lighting and landscaping throughout the building of the park.

Lamont Park Renovation ($ 6,515,000)

Renovation of Lamont Park in the city of Lamont. Construction of a new artificial turf soccer field, splash area, open plaza, skate park, three sports fields, each with their own lighting, playground with shadow, training equipment with shadow structure, obstacle / parkour course with shadow, recreation center and three toilets. Renovation of an existing parking lot.

Wasco Love Cormack Park Has Been Renovated For Generations ($ 1,769,740)

Renovation of Love Cormack Park in Wasco City. Construction of a new playground with shade, walking paths with lighting, picnic and barbecue area with shade, six basketball courts, a pickleball court, a tennis court, a volleyball court, a GaGa ball court, a multi-purpose field, two football / soccer fields, an amphitheater, demonstration garden, dog park , Fitness area with six stations, parking lot, solar lighting throughout the park (12 masts) and landscaping throughout the park. Renovate two youth softball fields.

City of Hanford Heroes Park ($ 8,500,000)

Creation of the new Heroes Park in Hanford City. Acquisition of two parcels with an area of ​​40 hectares. Construction of two age-independent playgrounds with shade, 18-hole Frisbee disc golf course, skate park, two basketball courts, training area, dog park, community garden / learning garden, parking lot with charging stations and two toilets, each with special lighting. In addition, construction of three multi-purpose sports fields, open spaces, an amphitheater, art in public spaces and a water feature.
