URBANA, Fig .– The University of Illinois’ Atkins Golf Club will open its first multiple operating areas on October 22nd, with the Pro Shop, Driving Range and Putting Green open to the public.

Atkins Golf Club, formerly Stone Creek Golf Club, was donated to the Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in the summer of 2020 and has since been refurbished for more than $ 5 million to improve the course and clubhouses.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open our doors later this month and welcome guests to the pro shop and practice areas of Atkins Golf Club,” said Jackie Szymoniak, Assistant Athletic Director of Golf Operations.

“While the golf course has yet to complete its growth process, the practice area will allow guests to continue honing their skills as the season progresses. We welcomed Golf Director Jim Buyze a few weeks ago and he’s been working diligently with the Troon team to bring merchandise for the Pro Shop and finalize our pricing structure for 2022. On the golf course, the Wadsworth Golf Construction Company has completed its scope of work, which is a great challenge for our team members and an enjoyable place for everyone busy with the growth of the new greens while continuing extensive maintenance practices so that the course can continue to play firmly and quickly in the future. “

While the golf course will be played in late spring 2022, the driving range and putting green as well as the pro shop will be available on October 22nd.

The Pro Shop will carry a variety of companies and styles. Merchandise will include a variety of logo options including the Atkins Golf Club logo at the University of Illinois, Block I logo, and the Illinois Golf logo. The opening times of the Pro Shop for autumn / winter are 10 am-6pm.

The opening times of the driving range are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to sunset and Sunday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The driving range offers a continuous range with an exceptionally well-tended bentgrass tee. Bags of 50 range balls start at $ 8 with exercise packages available. The 8,500 square meter putting green next to the driving range will not be available for putting until it opens on October 22nd.
