What cars are coming out in 2022? That’s an excellent question, and we’ve got the answer for you. This list includes all of the future cars, trucks, and SUVs coming out in 2022. We’ve included new and redesigned models, as well as those receiving a substantial refresh for the 2022 model year. They are listed in alphabetical order below.
Before you dive into this ultimate guide to all of the new car models for 2022, let’s define a few terms.
What is a new car model? A new car model is one that did not previously exist or uses a familiar name but isn’t a direct replacement. For example, the 2022 Genesis GV70 is a new model with a new name. The 2022 Ford Maverick is a new model with an old name.
Sometimes car companies will use an existing model name for a completely unrelated vehicle. Last year, the Ford Mustang Mach-E was a perfect example of this practice. For 2022, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an example. Both of these electric vehicles (EVs) are all-new but share a name with an already existing model.
What is a redesigned car model? A redesigned car model gets a complete redesign between model years. Examples this year include the 2022 Honda Civic and the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Sometimes car companies will redesign a model and give it a new name at the same time. For instance, the 2022 Kia Carnival is a redesigned Kia Sedona but with a new name. Next year, the Nissan 370Z becomes simply the 2023 Nissan Z.
What is a substantially refreshed car model? Designing and engineering a vehicle from the ground up is a costly and time-consuming process. To reduce both the price and the time to get a car to market, automakers will sometimes perform a substantial or heavy refresh of an existing model.
Last year, Lexus did this with the 2021 IS sports sedan. This year, the 2022 Subaru BRZ and 2022 Toyota GR 86 twins reflect this practice. Reportedly, they sit on the same platform as before, but with a new engine, new bodywork, new interior, new technology, and reworked tuning. So, technically they’re not completely redesigned, but they’re about as close as it gets.
Now that we are clear about what those terms mean let’s dive into the details of all the new 2022 cars, SUVs, and trucks. And if you’re curious about which models are discontinued for 2022, we have that information for you, too.

Volkswagen engineers made significant changes to the suspension, steering, and brakes, and VW says the result is a more neutral-handling GTI on twisty roads.
