TISD Board holds public hearing on budget and tax rate

The Texarkana Independent School District will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday morning that will include a public hearing on the budget and proposed tax rate for the 2021-2022 budget year.

After deliberating in a closed session, the Board will hold an open forum prior to its public hearing on tax rates and budget information. Later in the action / discussion part of the meeting, the board will review the approval of the proposed budget and tax rate.

After special reports, information points from the superintendent and the approval agenda, the board reviews the approval of personnel items, the monthly investment report and the following proposals:

– Declare surplus articles

– Net replacement for golf driving range

– Providers of school supplies

– Texas Middle School Painting

– Vehicles for feeding children

Other notable items considered for approval include a 4-hour faculty resolution and agreement for the 2021-2022 school year, a lease between TISD and Community Services of Northeast Texas, Inc. Head Start Program, and a Texas High School Program of Study and Course Description Guide for 2021-2022.

Other promotional discussion items to deal with include a list of brokers, the final amended budget for the 2020-21 financial year, and a Thomas & Thomas engagement letter for the 2021-2022 financial year.

After a review of the student and community development report and a presentation of the TISD COVID Recovery and Acceleration Plan, the session will be suspended.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday at 11:30 am at the TISD District Administration Building, 4241 Summerhill Rd., Texarkana, Texas 75503.
