If you are one of millions of people looking to try golf for the first time, you may not be interested in paying for an expensive tee time. That’s why we’ve rounded up some of the best budget-friendly golf courses within a two-hour drive of Philadelphia where you can experience a real golf course without a major investment.

Bella Vista golf course

Directions from Philadelphia: 1 hour (2901 Fagleysville Road, Gilbertsville)

This Montgomery County golf course has a secluded, rural feel to it. It features rolling greens, an island green on the 14th hole, and up to 6,474 yards of play. Based on prices, it’s best to visit during the week when prices are between $ 35-57 USD depending on the time of day (Pro tip: Twilight is always cheap here.) If you play on the weekend, go after 2pm to keep costs under € 55.

Berkleigh Golf Club *

Directions from Philadelphia: 1 hour and 30 minutes (14623 Kutztown Road, Kutztown)
Best tee time price: $ 35

That year, Berkleigh was ranked ninth in Golfweek Magazine’s Top 10 List of Best Public Golf Courses in Pennsylvania. Once a private club founded by Berks and Lehigh residents, this Kutztown classic has been open to the public since 2007. Tee times can get steep Friday through Sunday ($ 75 to $ 80). through Thursday, when prices are between $ 35 and $ 49. (Note: rental clubs are not available from Berkleigh.)

The Bucks Club

Located in Upper Bucks County, the Bucks Club’s golf course features 18 holes and gentle greens that are perfect for beginners and experienced golfers alike. Five Ponds Golf Club

This Warminster public golf club was just named Pennsylvania Golf Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association for its course quality – including its five eponymous water features – and contributions to the sports community. For the best deal, book after 3pm during the week ($ 27 for the walk, $ 42 for the ride). If you can only go on the weekends, prices range from $ 32- $ 71 depending on time and cart option.

Galen Hall golf course

Directions from Philadelphia: 1 hour and 25 minutes (645 North Galen Hall Road, Wernersville)
Best tee time price: $ 25

Galen Hall is just outside Reading and is a secluded place with rolling terrain and mountain views. Its characteristic 15th hole, known as the “Moat Hole”, has a real island green that makes for an authentic golfing experience. Reserve a midweek twilight tee time for just $ 25 or a midweek morning for $ 40. Weekend prices range from $ 30 to $ 49.

Golden Pheasant Golf Club

Directions from Philadelphia: 35 minutes (141 Country Club Drive, Lumberton, New Jersey)

Opened in 1963, Golden Pheasant Golf Club cuts through the thick forest adjacent to Flying W. Airport. With a mix of fairways, greens, and bunkers, this Lumberton staple is best to visit Monday through Friday after 4:00 p.m. if you’re staying for 30 USD hiking or USD 40 horseback riding can play golf.

Inniscrone Golf Club *

Players of all skill levels will enjoy Inniscrone Golf Club with raised greens and sand traps and marshes in the second nine. Prices typically range from $ 30 to $ 49 on weekdays and under $ 60 on most weekends.

Iron Valley Golf Club

Jeffersonville Golf Course

Before becoming a golf course in 1931, the land on which Jeffersonville lies was used for horse racing, due to its oval shape and natural curvatures. Jeffersonville has a number of bunkers that are challenging for both new and experienced players. Some twilight time slots drop to $ 33 on weekdays, but mornings are often budget-friendly too ($ 50 midweek, under $ 70 on the weekend).

Manor Golf Club

The Manor golf course was designed by the “father of American golf” Alexander Findlay and sits on top of a mountain, making its terrain the most challenging part of your round. Six of the holes require blind approach shots – meaning you cannot see your target – and are therefore better suited for players with some experience. Prices can be as low as $ 22 on weekdays and around $ 43 on weekends.

Neshaminy Valley Golf Club

The Neshaminy Valley Golf Club, which was converted into a golf course by founder Charles Schneider, is surrounded by forests and overlooks Neshaminy Creek, which runs alongside the 14th hole – a pretty scenic round of golf. Visit for as little as $ 24 (walking) or $ 30 (horseback riding) or after 1pm midweek, or pay between $ 30-54 on the weekend depending on time and mode of transport.

Paxon Hollow Country Club

Do you want to get away from the city without driving too far? Travel 30 minutes over the bridge to Pitman Golf Course in Sewell, New Jersey. There you will find 18-hole regular golf as well as a putting green and a driving range for practicing. Their tiered pricing is budget-friendly no matter what day or time you go, with hiking prices between $ 27 and $ 42. (Note: shopping cart fees are extra.)

This Pottstown course features 6,700 yards of green from the back tees, plus bentgrass tees and a variety of hole styles. Your cheapest option ($ 25) is to hit the green after 4pm Monday through Friday, but a car will only cost you $ 10 more. Pro Tip: Avoid weekends before noon to pay $ 69 or less.

Shepherd Hills Golf Club

Best tee time price: $ 25

This Lehigh Valley club describes itself as a place “where country club greens meet everyday low prices” – and for good reason. Their tee times are between $ 25 and $ 37 on weekdays and under $ 47 on weekends.

Directions from Philadelphia: 45 minutes (303 West Ridge Pike, Limerick)
Best tee time price: $ 36

Known for its great lawn and surrounding trees, Turtle Creek is a solid choice for players who are new to the sport or who are familiar with the sport. If you’re an early riser, go midweek to keep costs under $ 55. If you love afternoon or evening games, you can pay anywhere from $ 36 to $ 54 seven days a week.

Walnut Lane Golf Club
