If you can’t make it to a golf course as often as you want, Garmin is here to help. The brand new Garmin Approach R10 is touted as a device that can “get the course to you”. The portable Launch Monitor is the latest addition to the company’s Approach line of products and can be used at home, on the driving range and more. There are over 42,000 golf courses for you and up to three other golfers to play virtually, but annual or monthly membership to Garmin Golf is required. Metrics like club head speed, ball speed, spin, firing angle, firing direction, smash factor and more are recorded and reported for every shot you take. Read on to find out more.
You can play golf almost anywhere with the Garmin Approach R10
When the climate or busy lifestyle tends to make you want to play a round of golf, the Garmin Approach R10 is here to save the day. A 3.5 x 2.8 x 1 inch device weighing 5.22 ounces can track your swing and even let you play a virtual round of golf with friends. A single charge paves the way for up to 10 hours of use, so you can play for most of the day.
To use virtual golf, you need a Garmin Golf subscription. A 30-day trial version provides free access to over 42,000 courses. After that, you either have to pay $ 9.99/ Month or $ 99.99/Year. Even if you don’t have a subscription, you can use Garmin Approach R10 to collect more than a dozen golf metrics. Every shot you take is recorded on video so you can tweak your shape for even better shots in the future.
Prices and availability
The Garmin Approach R10 was officially presented, but is not yet available for order. Interested parties can register for a release notification on the Garmin website and a new Amazon listing currently shows it as temporarily out of stock. Once it goes on sale you should have it $ 599.99 put aside. Garmin estimates the Approach R10 will be in stock and ready to ship in five to eight weeks. This tentative release date is sometime in August or September.
To be honest, I haven’t made it to a golf course in years. This is not due to a lack of joy, but simply because I can hardly bear the costs. There are many other activities I can end up doing that cost a lot less than playing 9 or 18 holes of golf. For this reason, I find the Garmin Approach R10 a fascinating and convincing device.
At the $ 599.99, it cannot be denied that the acquisition costs are high. But $ 9.99/ Month or $ 99.99/ Year of unlimited virtual golfing through Garmin Golf is fascinating. The fact that up to three other players can join in the fun arguably makes the Garmin Approach R10 a fun device to have around the house.
