Putt Putt Pub Crawl takes place downtown on Saturday

July 9 – The third annual Putt Putt Pub Crawl takes place in downtown Owensboro on Saturday.

Putt Putt Pub Crawl is a fundraiser for Building Stronger Families, a home visit program for families with children. Each participating company builds a creative putt-putt hole. The event starts at Lure Seafood and Grille.

Essentially, each team travels from store to store playing the putt-putt round. Each shop will also offer specialty drinks and food.

Courtney VonGunten, President of the Board of Directors of Building Stronger Families and co-organizer of the event, said awards will be given to the team with the lowest score and the team in the best golf attire.

Golfers are encouraged to bring their own putters or they are provided along with golf balls at each hole.

The holes can be completed in any order and the scorecards are due by 4:30 pm in the Louie Bar, where an after-party will be held and the winners will be announced.

Participating facilities include Lure and Bar Louie Burger Theory, Owensboro Riverfront, Don Mario, Fetta Specialty Pizza, Mellow Mushroom, Mile Wide Beer Co., The Pub on Second, RiverPark Center, Ruoff Mortgage-Owensboro Branch, Simply Chic Home Akzente and SIP Owensboro.

VonGunten said the event was fun and for a good cause.

Building Stronger Families is a free voluntary service for the participating families.

“(Building Stronger Families) believes that all parents want to be the best parents they can be,” she said. “The program trains parents on positive parenting skills through an evidence-based curriculum. Home visitors help families set goals and achieve them.

She also said it would be good for community members to come together and support local businesses.

“You make new friends and it’s a really good day,” she said.
