NOTES ON EQUIPMENT:
Burns Bag has been almost unchanged since his victory at the Valspar Championship in May, with the exception of his Praise Wedge and most importantly his driver. The 25-year-old held onto his Mavrik rider longer than most Callaway employees before recently switching to the standard Epic Speed model after finding the perfect combination of spin and feel. Equipped with the exceptionally popular Fujikura Ventus shaft, Burns’ driver helped him find nearly 70 percent of the fairways for the week while averaging over 315 yards. The combination that led him to top the Strokes Gained: Off the Tea category in Mississippi.

The world number 18 is clearly very fond of its 4-wood which is an older model and a tour-only option that is clearly a perfect match for its game and setup. The adjustable Sub Zero Mavrik fairway wood, lofted closer to a 3 wood, has never been commercially available and has the look of a popular favorite. Burns’ hybrid is also more curved than the die cut loft to support 21 ° and the gapping at the top of its pocket.

Burns brings Callaway’s Apex TCB irons, the model chosen by US Open winner John Rahm and Olympic champion Xander Schauffele, another victory. Burns’ TCB irons are a cavity back that provides control and a better, player-preferred look.

The Louisiana product win marks the first in the new PGA Tour season, which is just two events old, for Callaway golf balls, also used by Danny Willett to claim victory in Europe.
QUOTE: “I think last year I had these experiences at the top, I think they were very important to me, I learned a lot. That experience was definitely helpful today and I felt very different from me on the home stretch.” in the past and not necessarily more confident, just in a better frame of mind and thought process was much better. ” – Sam Burns.
