Members of the Kempsey Golf Club played in the 20-21 Gold Medal Playoff last Saturday with the winners from the previous 12 months battling for the gold medal that day. The day was the George Hill 18 Hole Medley Single Stroke Event 2021 for the monthly medals in each class for November 2021. A big thank you goes to George for sponsoring the day and again to Graeme and his staff and all of the volunteers for their work under the Week to have the space in top condition for this major event of the year. At the end of the day, the three players who won the gold medals, Dane Grabbe in the A class, Josh Swan won the B title, while John Wright won the gold medal “C”. Congratulations to all three players and to everyone who has played during the year. Another highlight of the day was the scoring of 2 hole in one on the 3rd hole with par 3 on Saturday. The 130m short par 3 was very easy for two players on Saturday. First it was Dane Grabbe who got the ace, and then it was Shane Holten, not too many groups behind, who also got the ace on the 3rd hole. Congratulations to both players on their wonderful tee-offs. On Saturday there was a field of 88 players at the Stroke event with visitors from Frederickton, Tuggerah Lakes, Thurgoona, Nambucca Heads, Massey Park and the SWR golf clubs. This week’s top grade winner was Stuart Phillips with a very good net score of 63, while Nathan Moran came in second with a net score of 69. Josh Swan continues to improve and this week won a ‘B’ grade with a net score of 68 from Ben Pierpoint to 71. The C-class winner was Elizabeth Tehan with a net score of 71 and Russell Graham finished runner-up with a net score of 72 . Phillips, Swan & Graham will now go into the medal playoffs for the gold medals 2021-22 next November. The winners of the gross event on Saturday were Andrew Kirkman with a very good 65 round (7 under), Josh Swan in ‘B’ with 84 and in the grade ‘C’ Belinda Northey won with a 95 round. The winners of the ntp’s on the 3rd hole were Grabbe ‘A’, Holten ‘B’, Steve Trott ‘C’, Belinda Northey ‘L’. On the 8th hole the winners on Saturday were Matt Lewis ‘A’, Michael Fyffe ‘B’, Jenny Preston ‘L’. On the 11th hole, Kirkman ‘A’, Brad Martin ‘B’ and John Daley ‘C’ won. Bob Garner ‘A’ and Northey ‘L’ were the winners on the 16th hole. The winner of this week’s Super Tee ntp on the 18th hole was John Daley. The winners of the weekly ball competition were players with a net score of 75 on a countback and can be picked up from the event in the club’s pro shop at any time, along with unclaimed vouchers. On Saturday, the members and visitors of the club will play at the Peter Steffensen 18-Hole Medley Single Stableford Event 2021. Please call the club at any time for upcoming events. The club again urged everyone to adhere to the COVID19 rules in the club and to check-in before entering the club so everyone can stay safe and enjoy your round that day. On Saturday, November 20th, the Ambrose event “Clash of the Titans” with 18 holes for 2 people 2021 will take place. The day sponsored by Tim Mecham is not to be missed, so please register for this event at the club now. The Macleay Valley Travel Kempsey Open Day 2021 will take place on Sunday, November 28th. The day was the George Hill 18-Hole Medley Single Stroke Event 2021 for the monthly medals in each class for November 2021.
