Kelso Golf Club is promoting its Men’s Open tournament on July 17th
Parkland course officials want to open things up to members of other clubs after a regular series of national competitions since the Covid-19 restrictions began to be relaxed.
Around 80 players have shown interest so far, said captain Phil Stewart, and the club is hoping for more than 100, with registrations open until the day itself.
Stewart, in his first year as a captain, is keen to get the competition out there and adds that excellent prizes have been offered by main sponsors Lloyd Land Rover Kelso and MKM Building Supplies in Galashiels.
Other business people, club members and friends were also very generous with donations, he said.
“It’s been a really good year for awards,” said Stewart.
Golfers’ talents will be tested on that day in an 18-hole round, with scratch-off prices closest to the pin on all par-3 holes and handicap category prices.
A club Facebook page states, “We’re trying to get as many posts as possible, so please can anyone share these with all of your friends to get them to as many golfers as possible? All the best to everyone who comes in. “
