The par 72 golf course at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club will host the Nairobi edition of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) corporate golf tournament on Friday.
After two other events held at Machakos and Nyahururu Sports Club, the Friday event usually alternates between some of the Nairobi golf clubs, the last being held at the Karen Country Club.
As the capital, Nairobi is a business center with large customers and interest groups for KPA. It is for this reason that KPA is hosting the events to recognize the business support it has received from the Nairobi-based business community.
The agency also uses the event to network and get feedback on its business activities. Therefore, the acting KPA Managing Director Ambassador John Mwangemi has an excellent opportunity on Friday to inform the business community about the ongoing projects in the ports of Mombasa, Lamu and Kisumu. to inform on the further improvement of the services to promote the economic growth of the country and the regional hinterland served by the port of Mombasa.
The grand finale of the KPA corporate events takes place in the port city of Mombasa and especially in the centuries-old Mombasa Golf Club, where golfers can admire the incoming and outgoing ships.
Over 200 players have been drawn for Friday’s event, including KPA staff, who will compete for special prizes reserved for them.
The Vet Lab Sports Club drew over 200 golfers for the Nyahururu Sports Club fundraiser on Friday, which is supported by a number of corporate organizations including Nation Media Group, CIC Insurance, KenGen, Mofarm, Wintech, Karen Country Club, Vet Lab , Serena Hotels, Abeona, NCA and NCBA Bank.
The fundraising will benefit the Nyahururu Sports Club golf course project. Located in the town of Nyahururu in Laikipia County, the high altitude golf course has been a nine-hole course over the years.
A few years ago, however, the board of directors and the general assembly of 369 members decided to develop an 18-hole course, hence the fundraising campaign on Friday. The association aims to raise Sh25 million for the project.
Down on the coast, the nine-hole course of the Malindi Golf Club comes to life after a long time this weekend. The North Coast Club will host the Diamonds Dream of Africa Stableford competition, which is about a range of prizes.
The event is open to all golfers from all over the country, with the main prize being two nights at the Sandies Baobab Resort in Zanzibar in all-inclusive for two people.
