The University of Minnesota Men’s Golf Program has announced that Larry Bobka will join the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. As a 35 year veteran of the golf industry, Bobka has extensive experience teaching golf and equipment management.

“We’re thrilled to have Larry come on board to help develop our student athletes,” said head coach Justin Smith. “We want to build a program that trains at the PGA Tour level, and Larry will help us in a number of ways. Larry is one of the most respected putting instructors in golf and we are very fortunate to have him on our program. “

Bobka is currently the Master Club Fitter at 2nd Swing Golf, and the long-time Titleist Tour representative is well known in the golf industry. His experience includes serving as Vice President of Golf Club Promotion and Golf Club Design Advisor at Titleist, where he was responsible for equipment needs for professional tours as well as college and junior golf. Most notably, Bobka was entrusted with the design and work on clubs for Tiger Woods. Bobka also gained experience as Vice President of Technical Services for UST Mamiya, where he oversaw the development of new graphite golf shafts and golf club designs.

Early in his career as a PGA Tour liaison officer for Wilson Sporting Goods, Bobka designed and developed new golf clubs and fitting systems, including for PGA Tour players. He was also a golf course owner and professional golfer.

“I’m very excited to be part of the men’s golf program,” said Bobka. “The opportunity to pass on my years of knowledge and experience to these players is really an honor. Gophers! “
