The media release says golfing teams can be between two to six players. Participants must pre-register online and can select from two different tee times. Be sure to check in before the tee time chosen on the day of the event located at the Peter Yegen Insurance office, where golfers will be given location assignments and a course map of all the putting locations.
The event will begin with a gun-shot-style start. Golfers are encouraged to bring their golf clubs, but one will be provided at locations just in case.
Golfers are given a golf ball, scorecard, and pencil to keep track of their scores. Teams who play at least nine to eighteen hopes can bring their scorecard to the putting green located outside Hooligans and the Montana Brewing Company for a chance to win a special prize valued at 25 dollars or more.
Completed scorecards with eighteen hotels qualify golfers for a grand prize of a downtown prize pack with a 200-dollar value. Golfing teams also vote on their favorite hole location at downtown businesses participating in the tournament. The winner of the best hole gets a cash prize of 150 dollars.
Lindsay Richardson, the Community Engagement and Events Director for the Downtown Billings Alliance, says the first mini-golf tournament in 2021 was one of their micro-events since large events were not permitted until July.
The mini-golf tournament is an excellent way for others to come together, have a good time, and discover downtown businesses they may not have known about before. “We as downtown are a neighborhood; we’re not just a strip mall of businesses. So it’s fun to go out onto our front porches and hang out with our neighbors,” Richardson says.
