NORTH AUGUSTA, SC – Mount Vintage Golf Club will host the 49th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship from Wednesday June 16 through Sunday June 20.
The event, run by the Carolinas Golf Association, will be attended by 91 of the state’s finest amateurs. The tournament format comprises 36 holes of stroke play on Wednesday and Thursday, with the bottom 32 moving forward to match play on Friday. Any male amateur golfer who is legally resident in South Carolina and is at least 13 years of age is eligible.
Todd White of Roebuck, SC, won the 48th Match Play Championship at Orangeburg Country Club last June for his fourth match play title in four different decades.
Mount Vintage is a semi-private 27-hole championship golf club just outside of North Augusta. Located in one of the most dramatic topographies in the region, the club is known for its Champion G12 Bermuda Greens.
The CGA was founded in 1909 and is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs, which are represented by almost 150,000 people. The CGA holds 48 championships and five team competitions for men, women, juniors and seniors annually.
