The Saugatuck butler was bought by the RedWater Restaurant Group.  The restaurant, one of the oldest in the area, has been in the same family for six decades.

SAUGATUCK – A well-known restaurant in Saugatuck has been bought by the RedWater Restaurant Group.

The organization announced on Thursday, July 1, its agreement to acquire The Butler, 40 Butler St., Saugatuck. The Butler has been locally owned and run by the same Burger family for six decades.

“This is an exciting and emotional time for our family,” said Vicki Phelps, one of the restaurant’s current owners. “We are sad to part with the owner of this restaurant, which for many is such an integral part of our lives. many years, but we are pleased to announce RedWater as the new owner of this historic home. “

The Saugatuck butler was bought by the RedWater Restaurant Group.  The restaurant, one of the oldest in the area, has been in the same family for six decades.

Over the past four years, RedWater and its parent company, RedWater Collection, have expanded their holdings of lakeside restaurants and golf clubs. RedWater Collection was formerly known as Watermark Properties.

His portfolio includes the Macatawa Golf Club and RedRock Grille in Holland Township (formerly Macatawa Legends), the Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant in Holland and the Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck.

According to RedWater, The Butler will continue to operate as usual and keep all employees.

For the long-time owners of the restaurant, the sales process marks “a new chapter”.
