Always wanted to own part of Aiken Thoroughbred’s racing history?

Visitors to an auction to benefit the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum will have this opportunity on Saturday, October 23rd. The auction will take place at Constantine House on Richland Avenue West.

Janice McNair and her late husband Robert owned the Stonerside Stable, which once ran a stable in Aiken. Janice McNair donated her six shares in the Aiken Training Track to the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum for auction.

The six shares will be auctioned individually and packaged with unique prices.

One package offers the winner a share of the Aiken Training Track and a golf package with rounds of golf at Aiken Golf Club, Cedar Creek and Palmetto Golf Clubs.

There will also be an entertainment package that combines a portion with tickets to certain performances at the Aiken Community Theater and Aiken Performing Arts.

A foodie package includes gift certificates for The Willcox restaurant, It’s All Good Market and other restaurants in the area.

Each package also includes artwork such as horse bronzes by local artist Barbara Nelson and signed prints from the secretariat of the late Eclipse Prize winner Tony Leonard.

The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the auction at 7 p.m. Aiken County Councilman Andrew Siders will serve as auctioneer.

Tickets are $ 100 per person and space is limited. Ticket cost includes light hors d’oeuvres from The Willcox.
