The TopDog Golfer App aims to revolutionize golf competitions

TopDog Golfer, a Cork-based startup looking to revolutionize golf competitions, released its mobile app this week.

TopDog takes inspiration from the likes of Strava and Map my Run. These apps are hugely successful and have revolutionized the way friends interact while exercising. “We want to make golf more fun and increase the interaction between golfers,” says CEO Peter O’Brien.

The TopDog mobile app enables golfers to hold their own private competitions and golf clubs to hold sales-generating side competitions. The app simplifies competition management by pre-deducting entry fees, displaying a live leaderboard, calculating results, and instantly distributing winnings to winners via digital debit cards.

Use for golf clubs is free, there are no up-front or running costs and the debit cards can be restricted so that they can only be issued within the golf club (pro shop, bar, restaurant, etc.).

The company was founded in February 2021 and immediately acquired Irish golf tech startup PowerThru Golf to accelerate its development.

“What makes TopDog unique and different from what it already exists is that it is not only free to use, but also brings huge revenues back into the golf club and makes it much easier for golfers to manage their own competitions,” said Peter O. ‘Brien, CEO of TopDog Golfer.

“Golf clubs lose tens of thousands of euros in revenue every year if they do not use this system.”

TopDog also enables golfers to compete against each other anytime and anywhere on various golf courses. The platform will connect friends around the world by allowing them to compete in competitions without worrying about who owes whom money or adding up the results.

TopDog is initially targeting the Irish market and will be launched internationally in the coming weeks. You can find more information about TopDogGolfer at: https://topdoggolfer.com/
