Freeport Golden K Kiwanis meets

FREEPORT – The Freeport Golden K Kiwanis will meet on June 24th at 9:00 a.m. at the Bethany United Church of Christ, 2341 W. Stephenson St.

Guest speaker Peggy Badgett, author, blogger, mountain biker, pharmacist, and former northwest Illinois resident.

FHN Burchard Hills location offers alternative entrance

FREEPORT – The FHN Family Healthcare Center – Burchard Hills will be open on June 21st due to the closure of Burchard Avenue via the West South Street entrance.

The departments are open during normal business hours from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration for the Freeport City golf tournament opened

FREEPORT – Register for the Freeport City Golf Tournament, which opened on June 18th.

The tournament is open to men and older men who are amateur golfers who live or work in Stephenson County, or are members of the Park Hills, Freeport Club, or Wolf Hollow golf courses. It will take place from July 10th to 11th.

Players can register as a foursome for a start time on June 10th or register as an individual and be topped up by the committee. The tournament will have 36 holes, stroke play.

The players are flown with their 18-hole result of the first round for the last round. The winners and places are determined by the total of two rounds. In the event of a tie, a sudden death playoff takes place.

The men’s championship class consists of white teas and the senior class of men aged 62 and over consists of golden teas.

Entry fee is $ 25 with a Park Hills Season Pass and $ 50 without a pass. Those interested in playing can register at 815-235-3611. The closing date for entries is July 9th.

Freeport Noon Kiwanis meet

FREEPORT – The Freeport Noon Kiwanis meet on June 22nd at noon at Beltline CafĂ© & Catering, 325 W. South St.

Guest speaker is Jim Dole of the Doug Firebaugh Observatory. The observatory is located at 2892 W. Stephenson St. and is administered by the Freeport Park District. An open house and special outdoor observation session will be held from 6-11pm on July 3rd. The rainy day is July 10th.

The Freeport Noon Kiwanis Club is a service club founded in 1919 dedicated to serving the children of the world and the needs of the Freeport community. The club meets every Tuesday at noon for lunch and a program.
