Island Harvest Food Bank's 25th Annual Golf Classic in honor of Sandi Nussbaum - Community News

Island Harvest Food Bank is hosting their Silver Anniversary Golf Classic on Thursday, July 29th, at one of the best golf courses in the area, The Creek Club, in Locust Valley. The hugely popular fundraising event will honor Sandi Nussbaum, who has served selflessly in Iceland and has reaped the Board of Directors of the Food Bank for 28 years.

Nussbaum is recognized for her efforts in and support of the Island Harvest Food Bank’s mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island and for supporting other organizations that are dedicated to enriching the lives of others.

She has worked for leading nonprofits including Northwell Hospital, Sid Jacobsen JCC, Schechter School of Long Island, Autism Speaks, and other philanthropic and community-based organizations. Although she and her husband David live in Highland Beach, Florida, the former Roslyn Heights resident continues to support the Island Harvest Food Bank.

The classic starts at 9 am with a grab and go breakfast and registration, followed by a shotgun launch at 11 am. Lunch and drinks will be served during the course. The awards ceremony and reception will take place on Thursday, August 5th, at the Heritage Club, Bethpage, 99 Quaker Meeting House Road, Farmingdale.

Golf registration, which includes the award ceremony and reception, costs $ 1,000 per single player and $ 5,000 for a foursome. For those who just want to attend the awards ceremony and reception, tickets are $ 200 per person.

Some great prizes will be auctioned at the Prize Dinner, including rounds of golf at some of the area’s most exclusive golf courses; New York area sports team memorabilia and tickets to sports and events; Gift certificates from some of the area’s top restaurants; Vacation trips; great goods; and more.

“Sandi’s long and selfless service to the Island Harvest Food Bank has helped countless food insecure Long Islanders,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, President and CEO of Island Harvest Food Bank. “Your dedication to the organization and its mission has left an indelible mark and fueled our tremendous growth. We honor Sandi for the positive influence she has made and we sincerely thank her for her immeasurable dedication to enriching the lives of her fellow Long Island residents. “
