After the fire has been extinguished and the spread has been contained, the courses will be open as usual.
In a statement from The Belfry it says: “After a small fire in the men’s locker room of the leisure club this morning, we would like to thank the fire brigade and our team for their quick response and support in being able to reopen the changing rooms very soon.”
One of the UK’s most famous golf resorts, The Belfry has hosted the Ryder Cup four times – more than any other venue. Teams Europe and America fought for the legendary gold trophy on the Brabazon golf course in 1985, 1989, 1993 and 2002, with the home side winning twice directly, keeping the cup once and losing once.
It has also welcomed several European Tour events, most recently the Betfred British Masters 2021 hosted by Danny Willett, with the event set to return to the Warwickshire layout as part of the DP World Tour 2022 plan.
In addition to the Brabazon, The Belfry hosts the PGA National and Derby courses.
