BELLAIRE, MI – One of Northern Michigan’s top golfing destinations just got a little bigger.
Shanty Creek Resort announced the addition of Hawk’s Eye Golf Club to its portfolio of golf courses on Tuesday. It is the fifth 18-hole championship course on Shanty Creek’s 5500 acre property, making it one of the largest golf resorts in North America.
“The addition of Hawk’s Eye to our golf courses is huge – literally and figuratively,” said Mike Mooney, director of golf at Shanty Creek. “Having five golf courses within a radius of 13 km increases the attractiveness and prestige for golfers looking for a world-class vacation.”

Since its inception in 2004, Hawk’s Eye has been named “Top Courses in Michigan” three times by Golf Advisor and “Best Public Courses” by Golf Magazine in multiple course rankings and listings.
“In the wake of the coronavirus, the addition of Hawk’s Eye is testament to the success we are seeing here at Shanty Creek,” said Pete Bigford, CEO of Shanty Creek. “With the addition of Hawk’s Eye, an exclamation point was added to Shanty Creek’s bid for the best golf resort in Michigan.”
Over the past year, the resort has expanded and improved many of its amenities, including the new Topgolf Swing Suite golf simulator in The River Bistro, a new fleet of golf carts and the new CoffeeBAR coffee house in the Lakeview Hotel.
In addition to the Tom Weiskopf-designed Cedar River Course and Arnold Palmer’s Legend, Shanty Creek now includes three of the best golf courses in the state – all in one location. Schuss Mountain and Summit golf courses round off the resort’s 90-hole offering near Bellaire in Antrim County.
