Golfing is HUGE in Florida. Every major city, and most of the smaller ones have courses and putting greens. But what Florida city is tops for golfers? The number crunchers at LawnStarter wanted to know the same thing. They looked at some of the biggest cities in the United States to figure it out.
Tops for golfers criteria
Course conditions are a big consideration for golfers. Nine of the top 20 cities on this list rank 49th or better in course quality.
The number of courses is also a big deal. However, it’s not just private clubs and resorts. Where can the general public show up for a round or two? The top three cities on this list all rank in the top five for public course access and top 15 for premium course access.
Finally, golfers need to practice their swings and putts right? Both indoor and outdoor driving ranges were taken into consideration. The top three cities for availability of ranges are Scottsdale, Orlando and Cincinnati.
Only one Florida city ended up in the top ten which surprised me a little bit. Cape Coral came in at 156 out of 200. Southwest Florida cities with big golfing communities such as Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples were not analyzed. And anyone who is a crazy about golf knows about Streamsong. It’s literally in the middle of old phosphate mines in the central Florida and it is designed by some of the best of the best. It’s a destination for golf lovers worldwide.
However, this list is not about best golf resorts and or courses.
