Dundonald Links announced last night that it will host the 2022 Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, while also unveiling its brand new clubhouse as part of its multi-million pound development project. The tournament was previously held in Dundonald in 2015, 2016 and 2017, with Rebecca Artis, Isabelle Boineau and Lee Mi-Hyang as the respective winners.
Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open
Located on the Ayrshire coast, Dundonald Links offers a traditional links golfing experience. It is located between the established Kilmarnock Barassie, Glasgow Gailes and Western Gailes golf courses.
Following significant investments from new owner Darwin Escapes, Dundonald Links has undergone a £ 25 million renovation to transform the club into one of the UK’s premier golf resorts. The brand new clubhouse offers state of the art leisure facilities and panoramic views of the Isle of Arran. The clubhouse was built from sustainable and local natural materials. Next to the clubhouse there are 22 new modern hotel rooms with an exclusive outdoor terrace and easy access to the clubhouse facilities.
As part of the development to turn Dundonald Links into a premium resort, there are an additional 18 luxury lodges designed and built specifically for golfers to include golf bags, drying areas, full kitchens, and all-purpose putting greens cabins . In addition, with help from Kyle Phillips, £ 1 million was spent fine-tuning the par 72 course.
The Thai technology company Trust Golf became the title sponsor of the Women’s Scottish Open in 2021. The Scottish Government and VisitScotland have long been a supporter of women’s golf and last year announced a five-year commitment to the Women’s Scottish Open with an investment of up to £ 6 million by 2025.
