Be a sport! | Benoni city times

The City Times has already picked up at two collection points after being informed of the previous donation surplus.

The project was named Be a Sport! launched with the original aim of collecting used and new sports equipment for less fortunate clubs in Benoni.

You can find a BCT donation box here:

• Benoni Northerns Sports Club, 1 Brodigan Street, Northmead

• Benoni Country Club, Morris Avenue, Morehill

• Benoni Lake Club, corner of Edward and Divot Streets, Benoni

So that the boxes don’t get too full and the donations are safe, a representative of the City Times collects the donations every week for safekeeping until we hand them over to the associations.

Daveyton Golf Club is one of the first less fortunate clubs to send their wish lists.

Regarding the sport itself, they ask for golf bags, golf shoes, irons, sticks, and golf carts.

In relation to the maintenance of the club, they will ask for sleds, cups, flags, and any maintenance equipment they might use.

They also asked if anyone has a used laptop or computer that they no longer use and is willing to donate for their administrative purposes.

For more ideas on what the clubs desperately need, you can follow our history online as we post a wishlist of some of our less fortunate clubs every week.

Remember, if you donate pairs of socks or other items of clothing, please donate enough for a team (e.g. cricket – 11 players) and to the clubs, don’t forget to send us your wish list.

The donation started on July 16th and the project will run until August 18th.

If you are a Benoni sports club or team who needs help and can benefit from our collection of used and new sports equipment, please email the name of your club, a contact person and contact details along with your wish list to [email protected] before 08/18
