About the Solheim Cup

The Solheim Cup combines the tradition and prestige of golf with a passion for one’s own country and the continent. This biennial international match play competition features the best US players on the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the best European players on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

The Solheim Cup is named in honor of Karsten and Louise Solheim, the founders of the Karsten Manufacturing Corporation, which makes PING golf equipment. In 1990 the Solheim family developed the concept together with the LPGA and the LET and became the title sponsor of the Solheim Cup. Global partners of the Solheim Cup today are PING, Rolex and Marathon Petroleum.

The event, which takes place every two years, has developed into one of the most prestigious international women’s professional golf team events. The 2021 Solheim Cup will be held September 4-6 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. In 2019 Team Europe won an exciting 14.5-13.5 victory that lasted until the last putt. Team USA travels to Ohio and leads Team Europe with 10-6 all-time in the Solheim Cup competition.
