Srinagar, July 5 (PTI) Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha opened a golf training academy here on Monday, saying the Jammu and Kashmiri government has made the sport accessible to the common man and that it is no longer just an elite game.
The academy was launched at the Kashmir Golf Club.
“We made golf accessible to the common man in society. It is no longer just the game of the elite. The dream of an inclusive society is coming true, ”said Sinha.
On this occasion, he expressed his joy and said that the restoration work on the historic golf course after the flood in 2014 had been carried out in the best possible way while maintaining its originality.
With world-class golf courses, Jammu and Kashmir are aspiring to become the country’s golf capital, he said, and a similar golf academy will soon open in Jammu with training facilities on a national level.
Jammu and Kashmir are a powerhouse for athletic talent, and the government is working diligently to create a thriving sports culture and provide the right platforms for emerging talent, the lieutenant governor said.
The administration will provide all possible support and infrastructure necessary to develop the potential of young sporting talent in the Union territory, he added.
Sinha said at least 17 national sporting events would be held in Jammu and Kashmir this year to give the youth a chance to showcase their talent.
“All 4,290 panchayats were associated with at least two to three physical activities. Playgrounds have been created for them and alternative arrangements are being made where there is no panchayat land. During the time of the Covid restrictions, the Sports Council organized virtual training for 26,000 young people in various sports, ”he added. PTI SSB MIJ NSD NSD
