Imagine practicing your golf swing, enjoying mini golf and other immersive interactive games with family and friends in a downtown location offering international fine wines and food.
This is the fresh and unique entertainment experience that Lounge by Topgolf presents to its customers in Shanghai.
“As Topgolf’s first lounge in China, we have created a comprehensive indoor meeting place for golf games, golf training, family and social activities, as well as movies and other immersive games,” said Nicolas Chapin, Managing Director of Topgolf Entertainment China Shanghai newspaper.

Topgolf was founded in the UK in 1999 as a community space for golfers and their families. The concept spread throughout the United States and became a sports entertainment brand – a mix of gaming, fine dining, and entertainment in one place.
Topgolf has opened over 70 venues around the world, including in countries like Australia, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.
Despite the name, Lounge by Topgolf is hardly limited to golf.
“Golf and sports are just one aspect,” says Chapin. “Actually, The Lounge is difficult to define because its entertainment formats and functions are new to both Topgolf and our customers.
“This is an experiment to explore an innovative one-stop entertainment venue for city dwellers, especially in a metropolis like Shanghai.”
Nicolas Chapin, Managing Director of Topgolf Entertainment China
The Lounge by Topgolf occupies an area of 2,700 square meters on the second floor of the Central Plaza in downtown People’s Square and is equipped with swing suites with over 80 interactive games, a mini golf area, VIP rooms with impressive entertainment facilities and a spacious dining area with creative Pan-Asian cuisine and craft cocktails.
The Swing Suites offer a great alternative to the driving range. On over 80 golf courses from around the world in downtown Shanghai, players can practice their golf swing and play 18-hole games in any weather.
The choice of dishes and the artistic design set the Topgolf lounge apart from ordinary sports bars. In addition to entertainment functions, the venue can also host business meetings, formal or recreational events, and team building activities.

According to Chapin, Topgolf will open a flagship venue next year in Chengdu, southwest Sichuan Province. It will offer open bays with an extensive target hole outer field, VIP rooms with open bays or swing suites as well as several food and drink concepts.
“We are investing heavily in bringing both concepts of indoor, urban lounges and outdoor sports facilities to several cities in China in the coming years,” said Chapin. “We have great confidence to grow and explore together with customers and friends in China.”
