USD Men’s Golf: USD Announces Major Gift for Phil Mickelson’s State-of-the-Art Golf Course

University of San Diego Sporting Director Bill McGillis announced a $ 2 million donation to help set up a new golf training facility – the Purcell Family Short-Game Practice Facility, owned by the San Diego-based and golf club -Icon Phil Mickelson was designed.

“We are so grateful for the extraordinary generosity from Paul and Mindy and the entire Purcell family,” said McGillis. “This is a truly transformative gift that will take our golf program to the next level, positively impact the experience of USD grantee athletes, and also transform the lives of young people in our community. USD Baseball: Home game schedule against Portland ended

San Diego Baseball (29-10, 15-6 WCC) resumes play at the West Coast Conference after a week of BYE and welcomes Portland (23-24, 13-11 WCC) to a three-game series at Fowler Park , which forms the conclusion of the toreros games. Home match schedule 2021.

The World Cup match began on Thursday evening with a first pitch at 6 p.m., followed by two more starts at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. USD will honor its five alumni – Grady Miller, Adam Lopez, Paul Art, Kieran Shaw and Thomas Luevano – in a pre-game ceremony on Saturday night.

All three competitions will be broadcast live on the WCC network, with the long-time torero broadcaster Jack Murray (play-by-play) participating in the conference. For the first time this season, Murray will be joined in the booth by former San Diego baseball head coach John “JC” Cunningham (analyst). Cunningham, a member of the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and the USD Athletics Chet & Marguerite Pagni Family Hall of Fame, led the toreros on the diamond from 1964 to 1998.

USD Men’s Golf: Toreros advance to the NCAA championships

For the fourth time in program history and for the first time since 2011, San Diego Men’s Golf reached the NCAA Championships with a top five finish at the Albuquerque Regional. The toreros finished the tournament at -12, one stroke above sixth place in Texas A&M, and advanced alongside Texas Tech, Arizona State, Oregon State and Oklahoma.

San Diego went into the final round in sixth, three strokes behind fifth, but got off to a hot start when Donald Kay attacked the first hole, followed by consecutive birdies on holes two and three. Andi Xu held the momentum with a birdie in second par 4 and an eagle in ninth place.

USD Softball: Four Toreros Receive Conference Awards

Four toreros received the All-West Coast Conference award, the organization announced on Tuesday. This is the largest number of conference awards for San Diego since the 2018 campaign.

Sophia Bjerk was appointed to the second All-WCC team for the second time in her career along with pitchers Madison Earnshaw and McKenna Braegelmann. Freshman shortstop Amanda Limon was named an Honorable Mention from the entire WCC.
