Billy Charles Williams, 91, of Atlantic Beach died on June 1, 2021. He was born on August 25, 1929 in Heflin, Alabama, to the late Inez and Harvey Williams. Billy moved to Jacksonville at the age of 13 and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. After graduating, he served in the US Navy. On May 21, 1950, Billy married the love of his life, Evelyn Strickland, and recently celebrated her 71st birthday. They built a house in Jacksonville Beach in 1959 and became permanent beach residents. Her home has been the focus of many major celebrations, including the grandchildren’s very competitive Easter egg hunt. Before he retired, Billy owned a janitorial company for more than 35 years. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville Beach and most recently attended the First Christian Church of the Beaches. With a passion for golf, Billy joined the Selva Marina Country Club as a founding member and played his final nine holes in December 2020. He enjoyed frequent golf vacations with family and friends. Billy and Evelyn enjoyed traveling, with trips to Hawaii, Italy, and Alaska being among their favorites. His family meant everything to him and he leaves behind his wife Evelyn; two daughters, Debra Lynch (Carter) and Janice Donaldson (Myles); four grandchildren, Abby Magill (Will), Anna Donaldson, Dylan Lynch (Michaele), and Elliot Donaldson; and a great-grandson, Titus Lynch. Special thanks for the loving care by the staff at 500 Hall in Leeward Manor, Fleet Landing. Billy’s life celebration will be held on June 14 at 2:00 p.m. at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach. The family receives friends at a subsequent reception.
