Even par days can mean either frustration or relief for a player, especially in a pressurized situation like the LPGA Q-Series. for Goddess Weber, her Thursday 72 was definitely the latter. It was a great day for the Dutchman who carded three bogeys and three birdies with -14 to post with -14 and tie in seventh place. Although she is well below the top 45 and the cut-line is the same at the moment (-3) and is happy about an even number of points, the last rounds for Weber left a lot to be desired before Saturday.

“It was a bit up and down today,” she says. “But I’ve recovered really well a couple of times. I lost my confidence a little because it was a little gusty; I hit four shots that would just go too far because the wind was going to let up and that messed up my confidence a little about hitting those shots again.

“Overall, I think I came back pretty strong. We just do the same thing as we do today. You might get a little luckier every now and then, but overall I think the game is good. I’ll hit the range a little and do a couple of lag putts. That can definitely improve. I think we are in a good position. “

Weber is no stranger to the stress of professional golf. She joined the Symetra Tour in 2019 and has 12 top 10 finishes in her three seasons, with her best result in her career as solo fourth at the 2020 Mission Inn Resort & Club Championship. The 25-year-old knows that the attitude counts more in these intense weeks and has made sure that it does not put additional stress on the already full plate.

“That will sound stupid now, but I’ve deleted all social media,” said Weber. “I played badly on my first day at Stage I and I was talking to my roommate Karen Chung this week and we were both like, ‘We have to cut this (crap) out,’ so we deleted everything related to Symetra had to do tour or q school. Social media was part of it and I found it super peaceful for me.

“Now I’m more productive with my evenings. I actually turn off. I didn’t even look at the leaderboards because I thought it was going to freak me out. Given where I’m right, it probably wouldn’t be real, but I know from experience if I was on the cut line that it gives me added stress that I don’t need. It won’t help me at all. “
