After the excitement of the Ryder Cup last weekend, golf fans can experience even more high-quality action on the greens this weekend, because the ShopRite Classic takes place between October 1st and 3rd.

The ShopRite Classic returned to the LPGA tour calendar in 2010 and is played on the Bay Course at Seaview. The course is par 71 and covers 6,155 yards. This is a stroke play event played over 54 holes, which is slightly shorter than last year when it was played over 72 holes. Prize money of $ 1.75 is available for the event. A number of players have won this event multiple times, including Betsy King, Annika Sorenstam and Stacy Lewis. The last player to win a second title at the ShopRite Classic was Anna Nordqvist, who won the event in both 2015 and 2016.
Nordqvist set a course record in her second win when she finished -17 under par. Two other players set record results during the event, including last year’s winner Mel Reid, who reached -19 after 72 holes. Lexi Thompson is also one of the favorites of the event, which she won in 2019.
Leading Competitors
Jin Young Ko is consistently at the forefront of the LPGA Tour events as the 26-year-old enjoys another fantastic season. She plans to win a tenth LPGA Tour event this weekend after winning the Volunteers of America Classic and Cambia Portland Classic earlier this year.
We’re going to be looking for more value in the betting, however, and Thompson could offer that. She won this event two years ago and has taken eleven wins on the LPGA Tour so far. However, her win here two years ago remains her most recent. Anna Nordqvist could also be an excellent choice at a higher price as she is looking to win a historic third ShopRite Classic this weekend. She was in good shape this year, winning the Women’s British Open and finishing in the top ten at both the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give and the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play.
