December 3 – The LPGA Classic Marathon, presented by Dana, returned to normal in 2021 and came back with record donations to charity.

The Northwest Ohio Golf Tournament on Friday donated $ 815,810 to 29 child charities in the area, the highest amount since the event began in 1984. In 37 years, the tournament has raised nearly $ 13 million to 200 child charities in northwest Ohio and collected in southeast Michigan.

“The tournament staff did a great job planning the event around the ongoing COVID-19 issues and overshadowing the biggest event in professional women’s golf, the Solheim Cup, which was played right here in Toledo within weeks of The Classic” said John Rice, manager of brand marketing and trading for Marathon Petroleum. “The continued success of this event, which sets another record for charitable support, is clear evidence of the commitment of local sponsors, volunteers and fans of the LPGA Classic Marathon.”
