Amanda Balionis builds Dream TV team from PGA Tour players

Chesson Hadley would be Amanda Balionis.

“Chesson Hadley would be really good at it,” said Balionis. “I will use Chesson Hadley as my interviewer.”

Jon Rahm would be Nick Faldo. Jordan Spieth would be Ian Baker-Finch. Phil Mickelson “has to be up there”. Balionis, in her fourth year as an interviewer for CBS’s golf coverage, was lightly asked on this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar podcast which PGA Tour players would work best as the broadcast team on the other side of the camera, and which Answers were, unsurprisingly, some of the best speakers on the tour.

Balionis and co-moderators Colt Knost (also a member of the CBS team) and Drew Stoltz started at the booth. Rahm was the choice for the senior analyst currently held by Faldo. But what about the man who is usually to Faldo’s left, announcer Jim Nantz?

Rory McIlroy.

“I know who I would go with,” said Knost.

“Do you? Who would you go with?” said Balionis.

“Throw it away,” said Stoltz.

“Spieth.”

“Jordan Spieth? Do you think he would be the right one? ”Asked Balionis.

“He’s the golden child,” said Knost. “He speaks very well.”

“Would he be good at directing traffic?” Asked Balionis.

“Did you see him out there on the golf course?” Said Knost. “He directs everyone. Talk to his ball. ”

“Yes, ok. I have the feeling that I would put Spieth in a hole,” said Balionis. “I would put him on about 17 towers.”

What about the reporters on the course? CBS currently uses Dottie Pepper, Brother Mark and Trevor Immelman and Knost in the role.

“I will let Pat Perez go on foot,” said Balionis.

“Oh god,” said Knost.

“Let’s go,” said Stoltz. “And we are canceled.”

“Everyone’s fired,” said Knost.

“You must have someone who’s going to shake it up a bit, right?” Said Balionis. “Colt is the guy at the moment where I think: Okay, maybe it’s almost too far, but not quite. Okay we are good. Okay, we’re good. “

And for a second reporter on the course?

Justin Thomas, who already worked alongside Balionis in the role during the second match in May 2020, between the team of Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning and the team of Mickelson and Tom Brady.

“Oh my god, dude, he killed,” said Balionis. “When we were there and he looked at me and asked, ‘Am I doing this right?’ I’m like, ‘Are you doing this right? They are already a hall of fame. ‘ It was crazy. “
