PORTER CORNERS – Anthony Therrien, Head Golf Professional of Brookhaven Golf Course, was named one of PGA.com’s “Top 10 PGA Jr. Captains”.

The website, which represents the national professional golf association of more than 29,000 golf professionals and leading golf experts, identified Therrien in its Nov. 3 article, “Ten PGA Jr. League Captains Who Inspired a Decade of Dominance.”

Written to mark the 10th anniversary of the PGA Jr. League, the article celebrated “The Rockstar Trainers Who Are the Elixir of Life,” which saw more than 64,000 children across the country this year. Therrien’s PGA Jr. League this year had two teams of 24 children, boys and girls, ages 8-13. The teams participated in 12 tournaments in Brookhaven and across the region. The City of Greenfield also hosted weekly golf courses for about 100 children over four weeks this summer. Brookhaven is one of the few local golf courses that offers free golf to children under the age of 17.

Registrations for the 2022 PGA Jr. League and Summer Schools begin in February. Therrien plans to add a PGA Jr. U17 program for children ages 4-17, as well as adult clinics and a number of recreational and competitive tournaments.
