Warren Thomis opened the game at the Boys Junior PGA Championship 2021 with three very solid rounds.
However, he saved his best performance for the last day of the prestigious event.
The Madison Central standout player scored a -2, 69 on Thursday at the Kearny Hill Golf Links in Lexington. He finished with a total of +3, 287, finishing 51st in a field that is considered to be the best junior golfers in the country included.
Thomis improved by 12 places in the final round.
On Thursday he had birdies on # 1, # 6, and # 18 while posting only one bogey – # 13.
Thomis had two birdies in each of the first three rounds.
The Richmond native put in rounds of 72, 73, 73 and 69.
Madison Central’s Cooper Eberle qualified for the tournament. He shot rounds of 76 and 73 but failed to make the cut.
Caleb Surratt of Indian Trail, NC took the title with a total of -16.268. He scored a -9.62 on Wednesday to move up to the top of the leaderboard.
Ben James, Nick Dunlap, Eric Lee and Bryan Lee also shot a 271 and ended up tied in second place.
