MKE Fellows is a well-documented, growing junior executive initiative that supports talented and ambitious young African American men in Wisconsin to facilitate academic excellence, graduation, and career and professional preparation that never strays from community engagement. The phenomenal success of the Fellows initiative has been demonstrated in its ability to respond to today’s pressing social and health conditions while engaging the Milwaukee communities hardest hit by these disasters. For example, when the pandemic caused an interruption in academic services for MPS students, MKE scholars responded by creating the Five Pillars Tutoring Program – a collaboration between Marquette University, the Milwaukee Links, and Henry Aarons Chasing the Dream Foundation – to successfully virtualize Tutoring and classes for students at the Ralph Metcalfe School in the heart of Milwaukee.
