PGA targets over N300m for Nigeria Tour tournaments in 2022

The Nigerian Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) said it has set a goal of over N300 million for the association to follow THE NIGERIA TOUR tournaments in 2022.

Tony Philmoore, the executive director of the PGA of Nigeria, said the association had finalized plans to hold a fundraising gala night to help achieve its goal.

“The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of Nigeria will host a fundraising gala night November 19, 2021 at the Federal Palace Hotels & Casino, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“The goal of the association is N 300 million and more; The fund aims to enable us to run THE NIGERIA TOUR tournaments in 2022 with at least one tournament per month.

“We are also planning to organize a mega-event that the US PGA would attend worldwide; European Tour among others in 2022, ”he said.

Philmoore stated that organizing the tournaments would enable the association to achieve bigger and better sponsorship and partnership deals, despite promising to make honesty, transparency and accountability of the gala night money its motto.

He said that the association also believes that regular and high quality tournaments also give its players the opportunity to improve their games and rankings and to be among the best in the world in golf.

“Amateur golf will also play a role in the tour and the youth will focus the tour’s attention on developing the game,” he added.

He revealed that the highlight of the fundraising gala would be the inauguration of Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Jonathan as the Association’s Grand Patron and the unveiling of the Nigeria Tour logo.

Dignitaries expected at the event include Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State; Governors from all other states of the federation; Senior Statesmen; Industrial, among others.

Philmoore added that HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, the Elegushi of Ikateland, Kusenla III, would be the royal father of the gala night.
