The tournament management announced a multi-year extension with which the Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO will be brought back to the Black Course of the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples and its traditional February dates from 2022, which will take place from February 14th to 20th. The Chubb Classic, the oldest PGA Tour Champions event held in the same metropolitan area, is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2022 as Naples’ flagship PGA TOUR Champions event.
Outlyr (formerly Eiger Marketing Group), a global sports, event management and lifestyle marketing agency and owner and operator of the Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO, also announced the appointment of longtime PGA Tour Executive Sandy Diamond as Vice President and Executive Director of the Chubb classic. Diamond, a long-time PGA Tour sales, marketing and sponsorship manager who most recently served as Chief Development Officer for The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, will oversee all tournament management for the Chubb Classic in collaboration with PGA Tour Champions.
“Outlyr is about bringing top quality people to run our tournament portfolio and Sandy Diamond is a perfect fit,” said Andy Bush, partner at Outlyr. “I’ve worked with Sandy for a number of years, and having him on the team at the Chubb Classic 35th Anniversary is the ideal time and opportunity.”
“Having this opportunity to join Outlyr and run the Chubb Classic and its upcoming 35th anniversary is a perfect next step in my career,” said Mr. Diamond. “I look forward to working with my friends on the PGA Tour and fully immersing myself in the Naples community as we prepare for the 2022 edition of this great championship.”
Tiburon Golf Club, the only facility to host a PGA
Tour, PGA Tour Champions and LPGA Tour Event in the same calendar year, features two Greg Norman-designed 18-hole golf courses, The Gold and The Black. Opened in 2001, the Black Course has a very special look with its pine-straw-lined fairways, crushed coquina debris and undulating greens nestled between acres of pine trees and native Florida foliage. The Black Course has been named a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International for the purpose of protecting and enhancing its natural environment.
The Chubb Classic 2021 was held in April on The Black Course at Tiburon Golf Club, where Steve Stricker took his sixth PGA Tour Champions victory in one fell swoop ahead of Robert Karlsson and Alex Cejka. Mr Stricker was the captain of the US Ryder Cup team in Whistling Straits last week.
Tickets and voluntary registration will be announced at a later date. For more information on the Chubb Classic, please visit www.ChubbClassic.com and on social media @ChubbClassic on Twitter and @ChubbClassic on Instagram. |
