Lucas Herbert starts the second round of the Fortinet Championship six strokes behind after starting a one-under-par on Thursday. The 25-year-old had seven pars and two birdies on holes three and six to make the turn under two. After three pars on holes 10 to 12, Herbert dropped a stroke on the par 4 course 13 to switch back to one-under. He then made another par on the 14th par four before dropping two strokes on the 15th par three. Herbert’s tee shot missed the green and found the rough, which then required a hard chip hit, which landed briefly and left an uncomfortable distance to the pin and paved the way for a double bogey five. He refused to let play, however, and posted consecutive birdies on holes 16 and 17 – in addition to a finishing par to complete his first round as a PGA Tour cardholder at One-Under. He is six strokes behind the first lap leader, Chez Reavie, and will serve on lap two on Saturday morning at 7:11 a.m. AEST.
