Since 2004, Bill Haas has won six PGA Tour tournaments, but one of the places he has been consistently strong is the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi. With six appearances at the tournament, Haas has three placements in the top 10, including a win in 2010. Haas has not won a tournament at the Humana Challenge since 2015 and has missed his first cut of the new PGA Tour season.
Hatred is listed in Caesars Sportsbook’s 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship odds as a massive 300-1 long shot. Will Zalatoris, the reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, and Sam Burns are 16-1 co-favorites on the PGA odds table, while defending champion Sergio Garcia gets 18-1 odds. Before you finalize your 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship Picks, be sure to check out the golf predictions and projected leaderboard of the proven computer model at SportsLine.
SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been brand new since the PGA Tour resumed last June. In fact, it’s up nearly $ 10,000 since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.
At the 2021 Open Championship, McClure’s best bet was that Collin Morikawa would win outright, despite being listed as a massive 40-1 long throw. He was also all about Daniel Berger (+220) and Emiliano Grillo (+700) and ended up in the top 20. McClure’s best bets came in at over $ 2,200 in the 2021 Open Championship.
Additionally, McClure’s model was featured throughout Jon Rahm’s (10-1) first major championship win of his career at the 2021 US Open. Rahm was two shots off the lead before the weekend, but the model projected him the winner nonetheless. And at the Masters 2021, McClure Rahms (+250) took top 5 placement in his best bets and Corey Conners (+550) top 10 placement.
The same model also nailed a whopping seven majors over the weekend. Everyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.
Now that the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship field is closed, SportsLine simulated the event 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Head over to SportsLine now for the prospective Sanderson Farms Championship 2021 leaderboard.
The model’s best predictions for the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship
A big surprise awaiting the model at the Sanderson Farms Championship 2021: Sam Burns, a PGA Tour champion and one of the top favorites, barely cracks the top 5. Burns has had an impressive season on the PGA Tour, winning the Valspar Championship and securing a total of eight top 10 finishes. These impressive results helped Burns finish 18th in the Tour Championship, which featured the top 30 FedEx Cup players.
Burns finished last season with four straight top 25 finishes, but he struggled at the Sanderson Farms Championship in 2020. In fact, Burns missed the cut at the Country Club of Jackson after shooting a 74 in the second round. The 25-year-old had difficulty finding the fairway from the tee last season and finished 124th in driving accuracy (58.90). His inability to find the fairway from the tee, coupled with his ineffectiveness around the green, doesn’t bode well for his chances of finishing at the top of the ladder this week. He’s not a strong pick to win everything, and there are far better values out there in the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship field.
Another surprise: Charley Hoffman, a 35: 1 long shot, makes a strong run for the title. Hoffman finishes 22nd in the Fortinet Championship but is poised for a better performance this weekend. Since turning pro in 2000, Hoffman has reached 57 top 10 finishes, including a sixth place in that tournament in 2020.
In 2019, Hoffman finished 23rd with a score of -10 in the Sanderson Farms Championship. Hoffman finished in the top 25 in five of the 24 tournaments he played that season, including a runner-up at the Valero Texas Open. Last season, Hoffman built on that momentum and took five top five finishes. Hoffman was one of the best putters on the Tour for the first two rounds of the tournament last year, so this weekend he will be trying to get an early lead and drive it to a successful conclusion.
