WA’s main golf tournaments have been postponed to November and December as border restrictions continue to devastate the Australian golf calendar.
Originally planned for mid-October, the WA Open will now be held from December 2nd to 5th at the Royal Fremantle, with the WA PGA Championship taking place in Kalgoorlie a week earlier.
Both tournaments were played as standalone events last year limited to WA players only but again this year carry the Australian PGA Medal of Merit.
The joint decision of GolfWA and the PGA of Australia to postpone the events was made in order to give eligible players the best possible chance to participate in the events that are now entering the summer season.
The announcement comes one week after the Australian Open and Australian PGA Championship have been postponed to early 2022.
