Harrison Wills’ lead in the QLD PGA Associate Championship was reduced to four after a difficult second round.
Wills backed yesterday’s record round with a 2-over-par 74, consisting of three birdies and five bogeys, for a total of 138 points.
“It’s always hard to keep a low score mentally the next day,” said Wills.
“With that I played well again, although I was disappointed with the two late bogeys.”
Second place went to Peter Lyon, who made up ground with a back nine score of 2 under late to end the day with a lap score of 1 over par 73 and sitting on a total of 142 strokes.
“I started badly today but played my back nine well and I think that kept me in sight of Harry with 36 holes,” said Lyon.
“We had so much rain overnight, but it was remarkable how good the course was (playing on), especially the greens.”
Third, and one more swing back after a second round of 1-under par 71 for a total of 1-under par 143, is James Macklin of Jindalee Golf Club.
Jackson Jubelin from Palm Meadows Golf Club, who took sixth place with 146 after two match days with 2 under par 70, was best able to cope with the damp conditions.
Round 3 of the 2021 QLD PGA Associate Championship begins tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at Windaroo Golf Club in Logan City.
